Phoning It In From Adelaide

Location: Adelaide, Australia     Ride: here   Pics: here

Still struggling with too much to do and too much to say and not enough time to get it all down in a nice, tight format for delivery. So, this is just a straight up "what I have been up to" update, because I know you are dying to know.

Day 2 in Adelaide: went for a group ride, which got split up and became not a group ride anymore beyond everyone having coffee and pastries together. I had to head back early to the start because I had to check out of the hotel. I have never seen more cyclists in one place than I have in Adelaide. Drivers are horrible and unfriendly. Strange mix of situations. Drove up to the finish to see the riders come down the backside of Corkscrew in bunches due to the big crash.

Night 2 in Adelaide: went out to a street festival with Kerri, a Adelaide resident and fellow rider I have never met before that day but found me through this blog and Strava. Joining us was a couple of guys from the RadioShack behind-the-scenes team. Adelaide is putting on a very impressive show for the Tour Down Under. Fashion shows, music, local beers and wine, and lots and lots of people taking part.

I caught the bouquet
Day 3: I woke up tired and was tired all day. It was hellishly hot. I went back to bed and then went for a ride in the afternoon. On my way back through town I saw Jens Voigt chatting with some people outside of his hotel. Got another PO and took it. He did remember me from France last year, which was either true and very cool or a complete lie and still cool. Ate a massive steak at the Austral hotel and lost some money at the casino.

Day 4: Drove down to the beach and went for a swim. Came back to the flat and went out for a ride with no hills. 20mph winds, but much cooler than the last few days. Had some mussels and pommes frites at a belgian place and came back here to watch the stage from today and write this for you assholes.

Night 4: Now. Writing this. Thinking about how much sleep I am losing before my ride tomorrow and which pictures to include and how long it takes me to make the graphics that simply include the title of this post and the date.

Tomorrow I will ride to the finish of the stage to meet some friends and then ride back. Cool and some southwest winds should make the ride home very pleasant.
